Cranleigh Riding for the Disabled (RDA) CASI’s Farm
Cranleigh, Surrey
Scope of work: Architecture, Concept, Planning and Building Regulations Novated as part of D&B Contract
Plan A was appointed to assist the Trustees of CASI’s Farm in their eff orts to replace a dilapidated potato-barn which had long been used as stabling for their much-loved ponies. The team settled on an ambitious plan to create a new stable arrangement that sits immediately to the side of the existing indoor Arena, along with supporting facilities such as an education and activity space, tack room, storage and WCs, as well as much improved vehicle access.
By placing the stables in this way, many of the day-to-day activities are visible from all areas, allowing volunteers and riders to be fully involved no matter what they are doing.
The Local Authority were critically supportive during the Planning Application process as this is a sensitive Green Belt site, and the Trustees worked hard from the start to raise the capital to fund the project which was delivered with a Design & Build Contract that itself had to respond to many technical and financial constraints. The building was opened in November 2017 with much enthusiasm.
